SART: Sexual Assault Response Teams
Supporting a collaborative response to sexual assault
Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART’s) are a result of AASAS community development in five rural Alberta communities towards the standardization of a coordinated sexual assault crisis response to recent sexual assault.
In 2015/2016, these communities are launching their SART’s:
- Fort McMurray
- Medicine Hat
- Lloydminster
- Grande Prairie
- Rocky Mountain House
They join four Alberta cities with established SART’s:
- Edmonton
- Red Deer
- Calgary
- Lethbridge
Each SART looks slightly different, although key partners are usually similar (health, policing, victim services, counselling, sexual assault centre). SART’s reflect the unique needs and capacities of the communities they serve.
